How much does Biodiesel cost?
Biodiesel is extremely competitive in price against conventional mineral diesel.
Will using the Biofuels affect my engine?
Biodiesel provides lubricity, so even at low blends it will reduce wear and tear on the engine. Engine performance is typically unaffected. A 20 percent blend of Biodiesel (B20), produces little or no change in fuel economy.
What are the advantages of using Biodiesel?
-
Biodiesel is a renewable and sustainable resource and avoids using the planet's dwindling resources. The use of Biodiesel can reduce the emission of carbon dioxide - the main gas responsible for global warming. It is virtually sulphur free. Biodiesel is beneficial in environmentally sensitive areas, such as waterways, due to the bio degradable nature of the fuel and it's low emissions. It is safer than mineral diesel due to its high flash point. Improved engine performance/higher cetane level. Biodiesel can be easily blended with mineral diesel in accordance with EN14214 with no need to alter either the logistics of the fuel supply chain or the calibrations of diesel engines.
-
It has a natural lubricity. Lubricity can be lost with ultra low sulphur mineral diesel as a consequence of the removal of sulphur, and an additive is required to replace it. Biodiesel's natural lubricity reduces or eliminates the need for this additive and can deliver smoother running and increased engine life.
-
Biodiesel acts as an oxygenating additive improving the blend's efficiency of combustion. This ensures that a blended fuel delivers improved performance and reduced emissions more efficiently than pure mineral diesel.
-
These advantages are already recognised in other countries such as continental Europe where Biodiesel is widely used.
-
Biodiesel dramatically reduces the carbon footprint.
Can we purchase the Biofuel onsite?
In the near by future we will certainly be offering Biodiesel from pumps on site at our Burnley and Atherton branches. Biodiesel will be available for collection or delivery in various volumes from 25 litre containers to bulk tankers.
How will the Biofuel affect my vehicle in the winter?
Dexter Biofuels uses a winterising agent to prevent waxing and gelling of the Biodiesel.
What is the shelf life of Biodiesel?
The shelf life of Biodiesel is comparable to mineral diesel, with a shelf life of approximately 8 months.
Will using Biodiesel affect my vehicle warranty?
Vehicle warranties vary from manufacturer to manufacturer; contact your local dealer for further information.
Does using Biodiesel affect vehicle performance?
Biodiesel is comparable to mineral diesel in performance and there have been studies indicating that Biodiesel can increase performance levels.
How will the Biodiesel affect my vehicle filters or will it cause fuel blockages?
Due to the solvent properties and the cleaning action of Biodiesel there is a possibility when first using Biofuel that filters may block, we recommend regular services. This is only a temporary reaction.
Will my vehicle require any special seals or fuel pipes?
No there are no modifications needed in order to use Biodiesel.
By using Biodiesel, how does it affect the environment compared to conventional mineral diesel?
Biodiesel is a clean-burning renewable source of energy made from either waste or virgin oils. Biodiesel is carbon neutral and therefore does not interfere with the carbon cycle and contribute to climate change. Biodiesel is non-toxic and bio-degradable.
What support and equipment does the company provide to ensure the Biodiesel is high in quality and performance?
Our Biodiesel conforms to the recognised EN14214 standard. Our Biodiesel is tested via gas chromatography analysis. alongside numerous additional test methods, with certificate of analysis being available on request.
